Saint George's Tillydrone    Uganda Project 2012

The past year has been a  very successful year for Tillydrone Vision. With the support of all of our partners we have been able to fund a Pig Farm at Kaliro.  The Heritage Society at Grampian Fire and Rescue Service helped us find and supply a Tractor, and Plough. A Member of Staff at Riverbank School donated a Trailer. All items were shipped to Bezallel School. Next, we had our Wall Project.

Supported by readers of the Evening Express and the generous donations of peoples throughout the North East of Scotland we have been able to raise money  to build a 2 metre high perimeter wall around the whole of Bezallel School, Kamuli.

This year Tillydrone Vision are seeking to fund the purchase and installation of an Uga-stove at Bezallel School. These stoves are eco-friendly by enabling people to cook using a minimal of fuel, helping preserve precious timber reserves in Uganda.

On our next trip we will be taking along Football Kits to sponsor the Kamuli Youth Football Team. This will be the first time the Youth Team have ever played in football strips and for most of them it will be the first time they  have ever worn a pair of football boots.

God is at work in Tillydrone and we are very privileged to be part of such a wonderful Community.

After returning from Uganda in 2011 our Management Committee met. Based on the 2011 visit reports there was an unaminous agreement that for the next twelve months, the main target of our efforts is to be at the Pig Farm in Kaliro.

We have encouraged the HIV/AIDS Community in Kaliro to establish a Co-operative.  With our help they have managed to purchase some land, and build a small Pig Farm. On our recent Trip we were able to supply funds to have a Water Supply installed on the land, to provide funds to extend the buildings and also some funds to increase the number of pigs. The Co-operative plan to follow a Christian Aid model, where Members of the group will receive two pigs which they can breed. A year later they have to donate two pigs to another Group Member. They have also managed to set up a small school and e would hope to be able to do some work here in helping as they seek to provide education for orphan children in the group.

Famine in Horn of Africa

At a time when parts of Uganda are experiencing conditions of drought and Famine causing food prices to rise at alarming rates, we are able to report that our partners in Kamuli are safe, well, and thanks to the generosity of the people of Tillydrone and our Supporters at Grampian Fire and Rescue Service, Bezallel School and many of the subsistence Farmers who live in and around Kamuli Town have been able to escape the worst effects of the Uganda Food crisis. Below you can see some of the Ten Tons of Corn that Bezallel School has been able to harvest thanks to equipment donated through the Tillydrone Vision Project.
