Kaliro HIV/AIDS Co-operative: We are pleased to announce that the recent Award of a Grant from Tillydrone Vision has allowed the Members of the Co-operative to purchase land for a Pig Farm. Animal Shelters have been built and the first pigs are now in place to start a breeding programme. The Pig Farm will help provide work for some Members and all income generated will go to help support the Co-operative Community. We look forward to our  return to Kaliro, Uganda, in 2012 when we will meet again with our brothers and sisters in the Group.  It will be good to see how the work at the Pig Farm is helping the group Members and discuss how we can help further the work of the project to achieve it’s primary goal of becoming self sustaining.

Bezallel School:  Kamuli was founded  at the beginnings of the new millenium by Pastor Fred Ssempijja. He hoped to be able to do something to help provide an education for many of the orphaned children of Kamuli.   With the support of the Elders of the Church and the Congregation they founded Bezallel School. Today there are almost 500 children attending the School.  From humble beginnings a few years ago Bezallel School has continued to flourish and provide a high standard of education and Christian principles to the young people in it’s care. Today many local families now choose to have their children educated there, but Bezallel still  remains true to Pastor Fred’s vision of helping Orphaned children with a School roll  where many of the pupils in school are Orphan Children.

Miki Club Kamapala:   Miki Club is attached to  Namirembe Cathedral in Kampala. Miki club is a group of Young Folks led by Auntie Sharot. They go out visiting and do a lot of work with young people in local Schools around the many poor districts throughout Kampala. In an age when young people and teenagers especially, get such a bad press, it is really encouraging to see the work these young people do.They really are a fantastic bunch of young  folks with a tremendous attitude and care for other folks less well off.  It was a real pleasure for us to be meeting with them and hearing of the work they are doing.

Below You can see some of the Children at Bezallel School, Kamuli, as they sing a song of “Welcome!”

Tillydrone Vision 2012 Trip to visit with our partners in Uganda leaves Aberdeen on Feb 6th..  We will spend two weeks in Uganda.  Fairer Scotland Fund has agreed to sponsor four Young People and an experienced community worker to go with us on this trip. Tilldyrone Vision has managed to raise Sponsorship for a further two young persons which means we have six young people sponsored on this year’s trip.  On past visits we have witnessed the role it has played in helping shape Young Folks lives. We are indebted to everyone who helps make this possible.

Special Thanks to Fairer Scotland Fund for continued support in 2011. Without their help this vital work could not take place.
