DONSIDE HOUSING PROJECT: Heavy earthworks are now completed on site and the Contractors have began work soon on Phase One of the site. This phase will consist of Housing and also some Units for Buisiness. The whole scheme is planned to be developed in three phases, and it is hoped that the first residents will be allocated and settled into their new homes by February 2010.
THIRD DON CROSSING: Yes folks: It’s back on and Aberdeen City Council are determined to do their utmost to push it through. As a Parish Tillydrone has lost a lot over the past few years, but Aberdeen City Council want to make this up to you by giving you, Wait for it: The Third Don Crossing and of course it comes fully complete with all the traffic problems that will bring. Watch this space for news of Tillydrone meetings on the Third Don Crossing
VISITORS FROM UGANDA: In early November Mr Stephan Gesa and Pastor Fred Ssempijja from Bezallel School, Kamuli in Uganda were here for 10 days. Bezallel School is one of the Projects in Uganda that are supported by Tillydrone Vision. This was the first visit by both gentlemen to Scotland and they were amazed at how beautiful the city of Aberdeen is. They were so appreciative of the architechure of Union Street and were taken away by the age of some of the buildings. It’s quite amazing some of the things we take for granted without a second thought. Neither of them had ever seen the sea before.
After a visit to meet the Staff and Pupils at Riverbank School, Pastor Fred and Stephen both spoke of how much they enjoyed meeting the children and answering some of the questions they were asked. They are excited about the project to have a Twin Partnership between Riverbank School and Bezallel Preparatory School in Kamuli, Uganda.
On the Saturday Evening Anna & Billy Kidd had arranged a Ceilidh at the Community Centre for our visitors. It was a huge success and raised over £750 for the Tractor Project. Thank you to Anna & Billy for the spread you put on and for all your hard work.
Thanks are also due to Tillydrone Community Council for donating warm clothing to our visitors and a huge final thanks to everyone who helped by entertaining our Visitors and ensuring everything was such a huge success.
Thank You so Much!
