In February a party of 12 people from
Tillydrone and GFRS visited with our Partners in Uganda. We record out thanks to Fairer scotland for awarding a Grant of £5,000 to allow us to be able to have four young people from Tillydrone go on the Visit.
It
was a great joy to meet up with folks again and especially to see the kids with
their shoes and clothing that we had managed to send in our Container Project last
year. As always this was a truly life changing experience for all of us and we thank
God for being part of the Tillydrone Vision project.
Whilst in Uganda we met with the Mayor and Town Council Officials of Kamuli Town and we were able to gain their approval for the Twinning of our two communities.
One purpose of our visit was to source a Tractor for Bezallel School to grow maize that could be used to help feed the children at the school. Unfortunately most of the tractors we viewed in Uganda were not of an acceptable standard sow e decided to come home, source a tractor here in Scotland and ship it to Uganda.
With the help and support of the folks at Grampian Fire and Rescue Service and the Heritage Society Lads at the Brigade, we were able to find a good quality tractor and plough plus we were donated a Trailer to go with them. We also included some computers and twenty six boxes of kids books in the shipment.
I am delighted to be able to report that they are on-board ship now and sailing for Mombassa in Kenya. From there they will travel overland to Kampala in Uganda and then onward to Kamuli where they will begin a new life at Beallel School, helping provide food and lots of fun for the kids. What an achievement and it’s a huge thanks to Tillydrone.
YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!
